HDFC Offer | Target Spend Based Promotion for May 2021
HDFC has triggered its Spend Based Promotion for May 2021. Under this offer, you are entitled to get a gift voucher after meeting the spending target mentioned in the mailer communication using your HDFC Bank Credit Card. Details below:
- Spend Rs X on your HDFC Credit Card and get a gift voucher from top merchants.
- X is the amount to be spent as communicated in the mailer communication.
• Offer Period
- 7th May to 31st May 2021
• Voucher Options
- Eligible Cardholders can choose the gift voucher of their choice from the following brands:
→ Flipkart
→ Myntra
In our case, the target given for May 2021 is 10,000 INR, which would fetch us a gift voucher worth 500 INR ~ a reward rate of 5%.
Do note that this offer applies to only those cardholders who have received a mail communication from HDFC Bank.
• Offer Conditions
- Vouchers will be sent to eligible customers by August 31, 2021.
- This offer is valid on retail spends and on purchases made through HDFC Bank Credit Cards.
- This offer is not valid on cash withdrawal and loan products like EasyEMI spends, Dial-An-EMI, Cash-on-Call, Balance Transfer, Balance Transfer on EMI, Personal Loan on Credit Card, etc.

• CP's Take
If you follow the trend, you will notice that the Reward Rate of HDFC's spend-based offer has constantly taken a dip over the few months. It started with RR > 8% and gradually got decreased 7%, 6%, and now 5%. Although the 5% RR is decent, still the devaluation disheartens many HDFC Cardholders as the expectation from such offers has been set high by the Card issuer.
Further, the spend threshold and the gift voucher's face value against the promotion have been drastically brought down. For us, usually, the target spends used to be above 35K with a reward EGV worth above 2K but now it is just 10K with a reward EGV worth 0.5K. However, this change is welcomed as many cardholders used to forgo similar promotions due to the high spendings that it demanded.
Last but not the least, Amazon (our favorite) & BigBazaar vouchers have been discontinued and replaced with Myntra & Lifestyle gift vouchers.
